Pulaski Potable Water Tanks
Epoxy versatility provides new life and functionality for a local municipality's potable water tanks
The town of Pulaski, Virginia’s potable water tanks suffered from corrosion throughout their interiors. They hired WGK Construction to find a company that could rehabilitate the failing tanks. WGK contracted A&W Coatings to apply our 301-01 epoxy coating, NSF approved for drinking water structures.
The A&W team water blasted the corroded interior of each concrete tank, followed by acid etching. With the surfaces prepared, they spray applied 250 mils of our 301-01 product, totaling over 1,000 square feet. For this rehabilitation, the town wanted the tanks to be retrofitted for new filter assemblies. The A&W crew created ledges along the tanks’ interior using Warren’s epoxy to make them fit. They also formed sloped floors by the ledges using the 301-01 by trowel. This application method allowed excess water to drain from the tanks properly.
The barrier coating created by our epoxy preserves the water tanks from future corrosion, extending their service life for years to come while protecting the town’s water source.
